Discover Work & Witness

“Let us love and honour all men. Let justice, mercy, and truth govern all our minds and actions. Let our superfluities give way to our neightbour’s conveniences; our conveniences, to our neighbour’s necessities; our necessities to his extremities.”  John Wesley, 1750

Native American Christian Academy (NACA) provides a unique Work & Witness (W&W) experience combining the convenience of stateside travel with the charm of a different culture. Teams interact with the staff and students in off hours, art classes, and p.e. classes. Sight seeing excursions can combine the mystique of current Native American culture and historic ruins with the beauty of natural wonders. Sunsets are spectacular and teams can have the option of worshiping and fellowship at a Native American church.

Comfortable bunkroom-style quarters have meeting rooms/snack areas and an onsite laundry facility. Visitors should be able to climb stairs. Teams from 5 to 29 can easily be accommodated, and larger teams can be accommodated when school is not in session. Teams eat in the dining hall with the staff and students. A modern market, pharmacy, and variety store are located eight miles away in Holbrook. Summer months can be quite warm in the afternoons. Spring and fall are very pleasant but sometimes windy, and winter daytime conditions are usually mild.

Work & Witness projects are assigned based on the needs of the school, the availability of the facility and the skills of the team. Projects vary from heavy construction to the less strenuous sorting of clothes, cutting Box Tops, and kitchen help. Teen teams are welcome and receive a special blessing by being able to interact with Native American youth. Summer teams allow for possibilities of impacting reservation communities through VBS, sports camps, etc.

We have adapted our pricing to make it easier for teams. We now offer a flat rate. We ask teams send ahead $350 per individual if they are driving themselves and/or $395 per individual if teams are picked up at Winslow’s train station. $200 of either price is considered project monies, the difference is considered food, lodging, and travel expenses. Transportation from the Amtrak train station in Winslow can be arranged for pickup and delivery at 50 cents/mile.The pricing includes project fees, lodging, meals, and some of the sightseeing locations listed above. For more information, download the Work and Witness Handbook.

If you are flying into either Phoenix or Albuquerque, we ask that you look into renting a van to transport your team to our campus. We have included some van rental suggestions in our information packet.  If you need help arranging travel, please give ReachONE Travel a call at 888-290-7100, a supporter of our school.
