Discover Our School

And the King will answer them, ‘I assure you: Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you did for Me.   Matthew 25:40

In 1962, Native American Christian Academy (formerly Sun Valley Indian School) began in the heart and mind of Gertrude Jones.  She had worked with Native Americans for over 20 years and wanted to do something special for the children.  Her dream was to provide a school that would make a difference in the lives of children from various reservations.  This school would be committed to providing children with a quality Christian education.

In January of 1963, God made this dream a reality as the school opened its doors for the first day of classes.  A handful of students started classes that year.  They lived in a small trailer located on a 5-acre plot of land.  And now, over 50 years later, Native American Christian Academy is a campus consisting of 72 acres and 32 buildings, and we still have that same dream – to provide our children with a quality Christian education.

Native American Christian Academy is the only boarding school program with an emphasis on sports for Native Americans. Our goal is to teach fundamentals with the goal of each student playing for a high school team. Our student-athletes have a tradition of championship success. We do not, however, compromise our standards for education. Our teachers meet state requirements for certification. Our mission is to educate and disciple students for Christ.

Native American Christian Academy also provides three meals a day, showers, and a safe boarding school environment, where our students live under the loving and prayerful care of dedicated dorm parents.  The students and their dorm parents participate in regular activities, special field trips and meet people from across the nation.  Through the dorm parents each student will learn responsibilities in the hopes of building a foundation for future success.

Native American Christian Academy provides an education for children in elementary and middle school grades.  The program allows our students to participate in a wide variety of foundational classes including science, literature, math, English, physical education, Bible, history and art.  We also offer a choice of electives allowing our student’s minds and horizons to be stretched as they experience extra-curricular  opportunities in learning Native American customs, computers, sports, and music.

The foundation of Native American Christian Academy is Jesus Christ and His plan of Salvation for all people. We honor the gospel and stakeholders by seeking to fulfill Proverbs 22:6training a child in the way they should go so that when they are old they will not depart from it. We pursue God’s standards through chapel, daily Bible classes, and the witness of staff whose core principles are service, holiness, and teamwork.

Our staff members come from all over the United States with a “missionary heart” for our Native American students.  Staff are united through the common goals of fulfilling the Great Commission better than any ministry on the planet due to the 24/7 opportunity we can provide simply because of the nature of our program.

The average tuition for a student at Native American Christian Academy runs about $13,000 a year. Families are charged $50 per month. The rest is made up through tax credits, donors, sponsors, and any excess funds attained through the Christian Newtork Foundation. By charging the families in such a manner, should a family be jobless, they should still be able to make the investment in their child’s education.

Please pray for the staff and students of Native American Christian Academy.
